Your Inbox is Nice!
welcome
Firstly, thank you for subscribing to this newsletter. The idea that you want to hear my thoughts is going to score me points with my Aunties, and that’s huge.
I’m excited to tell you about what I have coming up - but right now I just want to welcome you to this newsletter. A newsletter is a fun way for me to get back to what I love about writing, which is just simply: writing. Not the industry, not the bureaucracy, not the lists of the Top 30 Writers Under 30 Pounds, but just writing because writing is fun.
I'm trying to be less of a workoholic (which is easy when there are no jobs :)), so am practicing "taking a breather." For me, that means I cook and bake while watching Sex and the City for the 300th time, or see friends and do something stupid, or draw and paint while watching Sex and the City for the 301st time. There’s something nice about knowing that, even if my industry is in a dry spell, there are areas of my life that are not “dry," which must mean the "industry area" is not the only area of my life that exists or is important. Is this all making sense? Some parts of life are wet, is what I'm saying.
What are your “breather” activities? Please say they also involve cake, because mine's all gone.
