  • 🏳️‍⚧️⚕️🏛️ On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve a budget bill which includes a provision banning Medicaid, CHIP, and ACA marketplace insurance plans from covering any gender-affirming health care for trans people of any age. The bill now awaits a vote in the Senate.

    🏳️‍⚧️🏀🏛️ On Thursday, the Michigan House of Representatives voted in favor of a bill banning trans girls from participating in girls’ school sports and modifying the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to allow for the ban. The bill will move onto the Democratic-controlled Senate where it is unlikely to pass.

  • 🏳️‍⚧️⚕️ A study published in April found that trans people in the U.S. receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy had a 37% lower chance of contracting HIV and a 44% lower chance of having an uncontrolled HIV infection compared to those not receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy.

  • 🏳️‍⚧️⚕️ As a result of a Texas law banning gender-affirming care for trans youth, the state’s Attorney General can use prescription records to sue doctors providing care. Due to interstate data sharing agreements, the Texas AG has access to prescription data from 37 other states, including Michigan.
