Hi. I’m Phil.
Some of you might know me as Pixel Prophecy from either the Ludum Dare game jam events, my YouTube channel with my over-produced post-mortems on the making of my Ludum Dare games, from Twitch where I stream once a week about my many creative passions, or from the café where I love to hang out with a good book that I put down after half a paragraph because it got me inspired.
What’s this about?
My intentions for this newsletter (witty name pending) are to provide interested readers with a regular curated box of chocolates, so to speak. I want to collect and share links to games, art, game-making, and quotes I find interesting, intermingled, perhaps, with my own two cents (make that three, I’m feeling generous today).
In short, you’ll get the equivalent of some of my shares, likes, and reposts from various social media channels directly to your email inbox without the need to subscribe to any of those and deal with the fallout of some billionaire’s tantrums.
These are the segments that’ll make up the newsletter:
Games — Anything related to games, big and small, old, and new, although I lean strongly towards the indie and bedroom coder side of things.
Programming & Game Dev — The nitty gritty of how the proverbial sausage is made; tools, resources, wisdom, people, programmer humor, … you git it.
Art — A small showcase of some of the artworks I stumbled across that left an impression on me.
Foreign Feed — Where I share posts from people I follow that might be fun, interesting, or plain nerdy. I love nerdy.
Pixel’s Rants — A collection of some of my emissions on the social media that I feel are especially share-worthy for one reason or another. Or just some random thoughts. Or stuff that doesn’t fit in anywhere else. Your mileage may vary.
I like the ring of it. Witty name found, everyone!
Alrighty then! What follows here on Sunday will by my first attempt at authoring an issue of The Pixel Prophet. If you’d like to receive that and every new issue as its hops off the presses right into your inbox (pictured below), consider subscribing.
I’m open to feedback, suggestions, criticism, and praise (although hold back on the praise though, I don’t take that very well).
