The Pixel Prophet

What is The Pixel Prophet?

Good question. I’ve asked myself the very same thing when I started out in October 2023. The answer I found was that I wanted to share my passions and the amazing stuff I scroll past with like-minded people.

At the Prophet’s heart lie indie games and game development.

If you are a hobbyist making games, an indie-games connoisseur, or just a random nerd looking for inspiration and new discoveries, the Prophet is sure to be your box of chocolates (metaphorical only! No refunds!)

Each issue is a collection of bits and bobs I come across that I find interesting enough to dive into a bit deeper and categorize into these sections:

  • News & Updates, news that happened since the last issue or relevant updates on previous articles
  • Games, a selection of upcoming or released games (largely indie) that I find share-worthy for some reason
  • Programming & Game Dev, bits on tools, resources, wisdom, and humor for people making games or being creative in general.
  • Arts & Inspiration, art, science, writing, or other fields that left an impression on me
  • Pixel’s Mixed Bag, a short summary of what I have been up to personally between issues
  • } (The Closing Bracket), a game dev or programming themed comic that made me laugh or at the very least snort.

Who writes the Pixel Prophet?

That would be me. Hi, I’m Phil a.k.a. Pixel Prophecy. We’ve probably met before but I am terrible with names. I am a creative soul from Austria who enjoys games and making games and making videos on making games a little too much for a healthy work/life balance.

I have a YouTube channel with high-quality documentaries on my game jam experiences, and other nerdy endeavors. I also develop games, make music, streamhttps://www.twitch.tv/pixelprophecy every weekend, have a sporadic podcast on game music (the Super BleepCast) and can’t decide whether I like coffee or unicorns better.

If you’re still reading at this point, you might as well subscribe. It’s free and you’d make an old man very happy. And don’t forget to browse previous issues.
