Rajasthan is a state of contrasts — arid desert to the west, green hills to the south. This temple sits in the southern part, where the Aravallis trap enough monsoon moisture to support forests and lakes. The white marble spires catch the light from kilometres away, drawing you in before you even know you're heading toward them.
I spotted this view from a hillside path while looking for a vantage point for sunset. The temple, the lake, the green hills behind — it composed itself. The red flowering tree in the foreground was a gift I hadn't expected. In Rajasthan, you learn that the most beautiful things rarely announce themselves. You have to walk the extra path, climb the extra ridge, stay the extra hour.
