There's nothing quite like sipping one of our favorite strong beers as the winter sets in across Portland. We've been brewing "Old Fellowship" Barleywine since 2014 (a full year before MBW opened!) and every year, this big strong beer just gets better. Initially brewed for the Lucky Labrador Barleywine Festival, this barleywine is formidable, but is also incredibly approachable. After tasting many barleywines over the years, our brewers decided that aging these beers is all fine and well, but why not brew them so they drink perfectly well right now? Using premium British malts, a smattering of American-grown hops and a blend of 2-3 yeast strains has put Old Fellowship on the map year after year. When MBW began packaging in 2020, canning up Old Fellowship seemed a bit lavish (to us, anyway), but was an instant hit with strong beer fans and beer geeks alike.
Currently, you can find 2023 Old Fellowship on draft at MBW, as well as TWO VINTAGES in cans. 2022 Old Fellowship cans are still available in limited quantities and our 2023 vintage was just recently packaged. Both taste excellent, both are distinct from each other and display amazing depth of flavor while remaining eminently drinkable. This one is worth a side-by-side tasting now and well-suited for cool cellar storing for years to come. 9.2% ABV

• Lil' Montavillain Strong Ale: this is the little brother to Old Montavillain, but he's no slouch! This American Strong Ale is dry and bold with notes of dates, raisins, prunes and citrus. 7% ABV
• Old Montavillain Freeland Barrel-aged Strong Ale: Aged in Freeland Spirits "Private Reserve" barrels, this elegant strong ale exhibits notes of dark fruit, red wine grapes, anise/licorice, oak and smooth, mellow whiskey! 8% ABV
• Bock In The Saddle Again!: Rich, malt-friendly lager brewed with all German ingredients. Pilsner, Vienna and Chocolate malts, Magnum hops and German lager yeast. 6.4% ABV
• Peregrin - Palo Santo Wood Aged Porter: This limited-edition strong Porter is chocolaty, deceptively smooth for its strength, and finishes dry. Aged on Peruvian Palo Santo wood, which imparts aromas and flavors of coconut, mint, cedar and incense. This beer benefits from warming in a glass and will also age well when stored properly. 6.8% ABV
• Palantir - Dark Lager: This German-style dark lager is rich with complex notes of cocoa powder, roasted coffee and mocha truffles. 6.2% ABV
• Old Fellowship 2022-2023: American Barleywine brewed with British pale malt, chocolate and carafa malts. Deceptively strong and medium bodied. Rich and complex malt flavor is balanced by fruity Yakima Valley-grown hops. Ready to drink now yet well suited for aging. 9.2% ABV
