The MOKKOGRAD Report: October 2026

Hi Friends!
Ah September! I have no idea what happened in that month. It felt like it went on for an entire year. Summer still isn't really over, and even now, in the first week of October, it's still over 20 degrees Celsius. Though this might finally change come Wednesday. There's also currently some loud drilling going on right above me.
Anyways, onto the newslettering!
Gamedev-News
I have announced Eswahr Eternal! That's what I referred to as "Other JRPG game" in previous editions.
There's a Steam page and everything and I'd very much like it, if you could share it around and wishlist it.
Eswahr Eternal on Steam
Eswahr Eternal wants you to become a King. You will wander across an eternal Kingdom. You will slay the four Giants of the Land. You will sacrifice your Principles for Power. You will take the Throne. You will rule. For Eternity.
The aftermath of the announcement also caused me to take a very big step away from Social Media, because I noticed how much the whole process of posting about the game to little or no attention started to sap away my motivation.
This also led to a second person telling me that for some reason I'm doing my work a disservice, which is always a nice thing to hear.
Anyway, please check out the game. It might not look like it at first glance, but it's something special. Trust me.

A lot of blogging happened
First there was an announcement post for Eswahr Eternal:
https://mokkograd.net/posts/2026-09-07-Eswahr-EternalThen I had a short rant about game with compulsive systems:

https://mokkograd.net/posts/2026-09-14-Done-with-PostingMe being done with blsky sadly didn't mean that I was unable to escape it, so I felt the need to talk about how random encounters in JRPGs are annoying and why that's actually good:
https://mokkograd.net/posts/2026-09-29-Random-Encounters-are-annoyingSince I am trying to change the way I'm talking about this game, I've also started what I hope to be monthly development posts, where kind of share most, if not everything I've done in that time, or maybe later on talk about specific elements of the game:

Apologies, but the current drilling that is going on above my head makes it very hard for me to focus on coming up with interesting ways to describe all these links I threw in here over the past Month.
So just trust me that they are good and interesting to read.

Videogames I played (written before the drilling started and my brain wasn't rattling around)
I have also played through all of Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel and I'm almost done with Trails of Cold Steel 2 as well. The game's take place in that world's Fantasy version of Imperial Germany and your party consists of a bunch of Students from some kind of military academy, who despite being from "all kinds of different classes" all seem to come from pretty rich, or important families.
The game's main protagonist, Rean Schwarzer is probably the biggest tool in history and I did find it funny how the entire second game was about those Students getting involved in a civil war, just because they desperately wanted to go back to school.
Can't say that I particularly like the games, specifically Cold Steel 2 started to get really stale towards the end. However that game does have a pretty cool twist after you've beaten the nominal final boss which almost makes up for having to endure Rean "I have studied the Blade" Schwarzer.
Regardless, I still like how well all the Trails games I managed to play so far are able to tell stories that involve big ancient magic weapons and forgotten history, while the main driving force for their plots are fairly contemporary political plots. You have border disputes, financial crises and one the earlier plots had to do with taxation.
I'm going to keep playing myself through the series, because I'm really curious where this all ends up going.
See you in November! Will it be cold by then? Who can say! It certainly will be dark.
