Discover

The school term has started, we have met with our child's support team, let's pause for now.

Dear fellow parent,

The flurry of meetings is behind you. Goals have been written, forms submitted, next steps agreed upon. But in the days that follow, something softer often lingers — a small noticing, a question, a moment of clarity.

This is Discover.

Discovery is less about effort and more about space. It happens when we stop rushing. Sometimes discovery is a new insight about your child. Sometimes it’s recognizing what you yourself need in order to feel steady. Sometimes it’s noticing the strength in a story you didn’t have time to tell in the meeting.

Discovery often arrives when we give ourselves permission to pause.

It might look like:

  • Realizing your child’s humour or persistence is as important as any written goal.

  • Hearing your child say something that reframes the whole conversation in their own words.

  • Writing down one strength that was overlooked, so it doesn’t get lost.

Try this:
I have been sitting with some overwhelm, struggling with stepping into calmness and feeling good enough in my parenting. This has helped:

Noticing, 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste.

Because discovering isn’t about adding more to your plate — it’s about uncovering what’s already there, waiting to be seen.

A Glimpse Ahead:

Next time we’ll circle back to Lean

Until then:
One breath for the surprises that arrive unannounced.
One breath for the wisdom in your child’s being.
And one breath for the discoveries that light the path ahead.
