My name is Suzanne Bradley, and I am a mum, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, neighbour, and occupational therapist.
For over 25 years, I’ve partnered with families —walking with them as they love, nurture, and advocate for their children with developmental differences. Through all those years, one truth has stayed with me: the way we sit with families matters.
I’ve long struggled with a service model that centres around deficits — where the first and sometimes only question is, “What’s wrong?” What gets lost in that frame is the profound, embodied knowledge that parents hold. We are the ones who know our child’s rhythms, their sparks, their struggles, and their joys.
Lead Together is an invitation into a different way of being together.
A way where families lead, and services follow.
Where you decide what to take, what to leave, and what feels right in your bones.
Where you and your family are not measured, but met — with dignity, trust, and space to grow in your own way, in your own time.
I write this newsletter because I’m curious about how we live, decide, and relate — with our families, our communities, and the wider world — when we slow down and listen more closely.
To guide my writing, I use something I call the LEAD Compass. Each month, I choose a theme and explore it through four gentle directions:
Lean into Noticing — paying attention to what’s already here
Engage in Small Steps — moving at a pace that feels possible
Adapt from Doing to Being — honouring the many parts of ourselves involved in decision-making
Discover — opening into new ideas and ways of relating, with humans and the more-than-human world
These reflections are shaped by my work with families, my background in occupational therapy, my use of the Now and Next™ programmes, my training in Internal Family Systems®, and my growing curiosity about how modern ways of thinking encourage us to perform, fix, and transact — often at the cost of relationship.
This space is an invitation to pause, notice, and choose differently.
You’re welcome to take what’s useful, leave what isn’t, and trust your own timing.
I’m glad you’re walking alongside me for a while.
