We’ve so appreciated the strong response to Scene on Radio’s 8th Season, The News. Thanks to all who’ve listened and shared it with friends.

Heaven knows — we certainly do — that we didn’t say all there is to say, in eight episodes, about the state of the news media in the U.S. At least one person has suggested that we simply change the name of the podcast to The News and keep on exploring the topic indefinitely. (Just as, previously, folks made the same suggestion about Seeing White.) We’re not going to do that. I’m getting ready to embark on a Season 9 exploration that will be, let’s just say, Something Completely Different.

But we’re not quite ready to wash our hands of The News.

My co-host Chenjerai Kumanyika and I want to hear from you, for a bonus q&a episode that we’ll put out in a few weeks. Please send us your questions in response to Season 8.

What would you like us to clarify or elaborate on? What did we not cover, or not discuss thoroughly enough, that you’d like us to say more about? Any thoughts on solutions and responses to the media crises beyond what we discussed in Episode 8? Any and all questions welcome.

We plan to record our answers to your questions quite soon, so please get those questions in by August 30.

A couple of numerical mileposts to share with you all.

First, I’m delighted to say this newsletter has reached 1500 subscribers. Thanks for signing up and telling your friends and loved ones. On to 2000!

The other number is bigger: 20 million. I launched Scene on Radio in the fall of 2015, a little university-based documentary podcast with a low profile and precious little publicity muscle — a show that came to do nerdy, history-based explorations of big fat societal questions. Sometime in the next week or two, someone out there will tap their phone or click their mouse and download a ScOR episode for the 20 millionth time.
