The Vampire Lestat is Keeping Me From Sleeping
Hello, old friends and new, I have finally returned from Chicago and am now safely home. I am probably going to have to spend the next few days recovering from the past few adventures and then it’ll be back to work for me. Hopefully I can get back to writing as well, although I’ll have to figure out what project I want to work on.
Big Ohio Book Con and Chicago Steampunk Exposition
We have had two very busy weeks and it was wonderful to meet people excited about Bundersnoot. Also Silas, but mostly Bundersnoot. It’s also really nice to know my idea for flash drives with e-books was a good idea between the people buying them and the other authors who said “Oh wow, that’s a great idea!” We barely had time to get home and recover from BOBC before we had to head up to Chicago. Which is where the Vampire Lestat comes into the story.
See, my spouse loves Anne Rice’s vampire novels because she loves vampires and spooky things. I, it is well known, despise vampires because they’re basically landlords. Anyway when we finally got to Chicago it turned out new episodes of The Vampire Lestat were on AMC and she could watch them and this is now the third time I have been kept up despite wanting to go to bed because of this jerk. (My spouse says she’s lucky I ut up with her, but to be fair I dragged her to both Medina and Chicago in the space of a week.)
We had a lot of people adopt mushrooms during the Chicago Steampunk Expo and I also had the pleasant surprise of receiving an award for the miniature I submitted in their art competition.

I guess I can now officially put “award-winning painter” in my bio now.
What Comes Next
We’re entering a quiet spell for a bit, for which I am thankful. I had quite a lot of people in a very short period of time. The next event I’ll be at is the Dayton Book Fest on September 19th. After that I’ll have Con on the Cob in Richfield, Ohio in October which will be the next time people can come and adopt mushrooms. In the meantime I’ll be working on a variety of drafts I have saved and hopefully, hopefully we’ll get another book close to completion. fingers crossed
Anyway, happy Pride to all of you, especially that trans guy in the vendor hall who happily told me my random affirmation of him has been living rent free in his head for years.
Your friend in books and trains,
