Monsters!

Avengers 3.11 “The Golden Fleece”
What happens when Steed picks up the wrong coat? He finds a ton of money..and an illegal gold smuggling ring.
An illegal gold smuggling ring that’s being used to help veterans. Yeah, they went there. Veterans always seem to have their struggles. Is gold smuggling the answer? Honestly, I’m kind of with the smugglers here. Just saying.
I blinked and missed the dog, about which I am sad. The dog is the best co-star in the show.
(Sign of the times: Use of the word “oriental”).
Cinema Disaster: Jet Stream (2013)
Gotta love a good disaster movie. Or a terrible one. This is a fairly stock weather disaster movie in which the government experiments with weather control, and it goes horribly wrong.
They bring in our hero, Steve “Sunny” Simpson, “played” by David Chokachi, who was a weather scientist but is now a weatherman with an awful boss and a pretty blonde fiancée (Ruth Kearney). She exists to motivate him and…yeah. Not only is there no chemistry in that romance but I was actively rooting for him to leave her. He’s no catch. She’s cray-cray.
The IMDB description of this movie, btw, is wrong.
This is also the only movie I know of that destroys Madison, Wisconsin. What did the writer have against Madison?
The explanation for how the weaponized weather control both works and, well, doesn’t, is some pretty serious SCIENCE!
I’ve seen worse, but I’ve seen far better, and that “romance” was just the worst.
Avengers 3.2 “Don’t Look Behind You”
How about a genre side step into…gothic? Cathy is lured to a creepy stately home (Steed tries), and entrapped by a figure from her past…it’s unclear if he’s actually her ex or somebody she honeytrapped – seems more like the latter. This has some really creepy moments, but has the basic flaw that it’s hard to believe Cathy is in actual danger.
She’s just too badass for it to work. The stuff with the pictures is appropriately creepy, but I expected her to kick his butt. Sure, she was a little softer/nicer than she might have been.
I did feel sorry for the guy, to be honest…but he should know better.
Wizards of Waverly Place 3.3 "Monster Hunter"
Loved the guy in the bad horse suit. I find bad horse suits funny. Justin has graduated from basic wizard training and had to pick an advanced training route.
He chooses monster hunting.
Alex finally realizes how far behind she is, but it's Max who tries to sabotage Justin (after summoning his long suffering conscience. At least he has one) by...filling the city with monsters.
The title of the next episode indicates some of them may still be out there. Sigh.
Max is, ya know, not smart.
Wizards of Waverly Place 3.4 "Three Monsters"
An enthusiastic Julian accidentally turns in Juliet and her parents to the Monster Hunting Council.
(This takes care of Frankengirl, but Conscience is still around. Is there actual...continuity...happening?)
Julian is also struggling with the fact that Juliet and Alex are getting on.
Oh, nice use of Bolero, which is now stuck in my head again.
I question the competence of the monster hunters, by the way.
