Endings and Origins

Wynnona Earp 4.11 “Better Dig Two”
Waverly is all dark angel, and when Wynonna says she doesn’t want to watch, Waverly blinds her. Temporarily. Probably just to make a point.
Doc turns Mercedes so they can break out of BBD.
Rachel is kind of stuck with Cleo, and Cleo offers to help her bring Billy back as the Clanton Heir. Turns out, you can’t do that, it’s all a trick, and now Doc is the heir.
Yeah, there’s a duel, sort of. Gotta love those two. Even Evil Doc won’t shoot somebody in the back.
Wynonna gets AngelWaverly to save Doc. Which Waverly does thoroughly. No more fangs, Doc.
And now Waverly has to go to the garden to seal it, but Nicole is not about to let that happen, and swears herself to protect the Ghost River Triangle forever. How forever is rather left open.
Now where is my gay wedding?
Wynonna Earp 4.12 “Old Souls”
Aha, there it is!
You can tell this show was made in the binge watching era, because the last episode is entirely denouement.
Well, there is the cursed wedding dress that Wynonna tries on. From Cursie’s. Come on, you are all smarter than that.
But we get our gay wedding and the lesbians get their HEA.
And maybe Doc and Wynonna too, although it feels more like a HFN, knowing those two. Still, they’re off to get their kid.
Nice ending, although I’ve never been a fan of the denouement episode and the assumption people are going to binge in a couple of days.
Wynonna Earp: Vengeance
Ah, the movie. Waverly, what have you done with your hair?
Let’s recap. Nicole and Waverly are married, but Waverly is feeling restless. Doc and Wynonna are making money, by not always legal means, so they can homestead and go get their kid.
Jeremy is in Egypt, dealing with Black Badge stuff.
And wasn’t Mercedes a vampire?
I sort of knew Wynonna and Doc were only getting a HFN.
The bad guy of the piece is Wynonna’s bully of a social worker, who somehow got sent to hell. It’s very clear.
Honestly, if you loved the ending to the show, you may want to skip this, because everything got really blown up.
Of course, who knows what might have happened if we’d continued past this. I didn’t feel it was quite up to the standards of the show, but I don’t know why. The snark seemed a little off (plus Waverly’s hair).
But it was an interesting reunion episode/finale. I’m glad I completed it as a completist, but I think I preferred the first finale.
Wizards of Waverly Place 2.23 "Paint By Committee"
Oh man.
Any creative freelancer is going to feel this episode. It has a heavy handed message about creating what you want.
But it also has a character who wants to paint murals, but has to make a living designing greetings cards.
Alex learns that there is nothing worse than being edited by committee.
And Max learns that the internet is a very, very fickle place when he tries to go viral, but sends his mom viral instead!
Yeah, it's heavy handed, but somebody in the writers' room has been in the freelance trenches for sure.
Daredevil 1.8 "Shadows in the Glass"
This is Fisk's origin story, because villains deserve one too. There's a specific kind of child abuse that involves forcing children to hurt others. Fisk's dad was a piece of work. And Fisk kills him, defending his mother.
We also learn that Fisk cooks breakfast for himself when he could afford a personal chef and prefers to wear darker colors.
I'm not without sympathy for him. I think he may want no other kid to go through what he went through, but that's not the way to do it.
Vanessa is also portrayed as very much a willing participant in this.
And as Fisk comes out of the shadows and declares himself as a "philanthropist," Daredevil's goal just became a lot harder.
