Brains!

A small, wooden, two storey house with a porch almost as big as it is, surrounded by grass and trees.

Wynonna Earp 4.9 “Crazy”

In this episode, we dive into the dynamics of abusive relationships. No, really. We do.

Somebody is killing trivia winners. At first, Wynonna thinks Doc drank one of them. He was an asshole and a loner, so that tracks.

But no, somebody is killing trivia winners and eating their brains. Turns out to be a total idiot with a leashed genie.

There’s a trivia night, although thankfully the guy (Doug/Kuru) didn’t think to make sudden death literal. Just trap everyone until there’s a winner.

Eating brains is bad for you.

Genies are, in Wynonna’s mind, too dangerous to be allowed to live. At least when somebody gets infinite wishes from a genie that isn’t even smart enough to twist them properly.

At least Nicole is sheriff again, as she’s supposed to be. (Where’s my gay wedding?)

Wynonna Earp 4.10 “Life Turned Her That Way”

Waverly is chased into the fog and finds Jolene, who appears to be still alive. For now.

The BBD are rounding up demons prior to nuking Purgatory. Only the ones they want, mind. Which ends up including Doc.

Rachel is trying to be Wynonna’s mini-me and Wynonna is not discouraging her enough. I love watching Wynonna, but I wouldn’t want my kid or kid sister to be her.

And Waverly has gone full demon. We know this will be temporary, because I actually trust the promise of a big gay wedding. It probably has to happen, though; she has to face that the difference between an angel and a demon is politics.

But there’s a lot of work to be done in two remaining episodes, one of which had better have the big gay wedding.

Wizards of Waverly Place 2.20 "Family Game Night"

Family game night was canceled years ago because somebody couldn't keep his cool. That somebody is...dad. Because of course he is.

(Is there another reason he didn't get to be the family wizard?)

Meanwhile, Alex body swaps with Harper so Harper can take her history test. With a faulty spell that, at one point, has Alex and Harper sharing a body. This does not go well.

And Justin manages to get rid of a girl who is sexually harassing him. Because, seriously, that was sexual harassment. It doesn't suddenly become funny when the perpetrator is female and the victim male, people.

Daredevil 1.5 "World on Fire"

Daredevil takes on gentrification. Or rather, they are turning Fisk into the face of it. I've been to Hell's Kitchen. Unfortunately, it has been fairly gentrified at this point. New York is not what it used to be.

Foggy and Karen are now dating while Wilson continues to court Vanessa. And lie to her, and manipulate her, because that's what he does. He can't stop it.

But this episode gets...nasty. The practice takes on the case of a tenant in a rent controlled apartment. The owners are trying to force everyone out to do a condo conversion. (I've actually been forced out of an apartment, although not for that, and finding something else was not hard, so I can only imagine the edges of it).

And Fisk is that landlord, and he blows the building up...while telling Vanessa it was a mob hideout.

Yeah. He's a rat bastard.

Oh, and we meet Foggy's corporate lawyer ex who is very smooth and has lots of teeth.

Wizards of Waverly Place 2.21 "Justin's New Girlfriend"

Justin and Harper like silent movies. Alex doesn't. Alex is jealous her best friend and brother have something she isn't involved with, and tries to ruin it. This is very definitely Alex behavior.

Which segues in to one of the few things this show has ever done well. Alex locks Justin and Harper in the loft until they sort things out and are friends again.

Which works, but then they plot revenge, which takes the form of a spell to put Alex in a silent movie.

And they do it really well! Lots of running, lots of slapstick...it was genuinely funny. For once, I'm not vaguely mockwatching.

Yeah, there's a gem now and then.
