Jeanne July 2025: Welcome to another volume of Brave New Girls!
Happy book birthday to the 9th volume in the Brave New Girls series!! ‘Tales of Girls Who Invent and Imagine’ includes another story of mine. It is available both in print and as an eBook from various vendors.

The Brave New Girls anthologies are collections of YA science fiction short stories featuring girls who are all about STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math. Revenues from sales of these anthologies are being donated to the Society of Women Engineers scholarship fund.
My newest story, included in this collection, is titled “Contemplations on the Authenticity and Value of Museum Objects”. We return for the fourth time to the Magellan Intergalactic Boarding School as a ship bring an entire museum for the students to explore.
Part of this story’s inspiration was a keynote speech by Claire Warnier at the iPRES international conference on digital preservation. Claire spoke about the Atlas of Lost Finds which features 3D scans of many items from the Museu Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (90% of the museum was lost to a fire in 2018!). She asked questions about authenticity - and what it means to remember items and the cultures that created them. I hope with my story that my readers might ponder some of these same questions.
The fantastic illustration below, by Kay Wrenn, accompanies my story:

These short story collections are great fun and raising money for a worthy cause. They make a great gift for everyone - from kids, age 10 and up, to adults who enjoy YA.
