Salamanca

we went to Salamanca at the last minute. sandy coloured stones, little bridge, shells, library with that poetry book, restaurant with lilac tablecloths where we ate the chickpea salad and the mysterious dessert. you tried hard to find nice vegetarian food for us and I can’t deny that. one day in the airbnb you were making tea in the grey kitchen and I was sitting on the blue couch and I heard you say something quietly to yourself and the thing you said quietly was a girl’s name. I made Turkish green beans for us and we ate them two nights in a row. the bedroom was very dark. we usually showered together frequently but the shower here was barely big enough for one person. we were late checking out of the airbnb. I was mad at you for taking so long and I waited all bitchy and rolling my eyes in the hallway. the manager guy came while you were still cleaning the kitchen and I felt embarrassed for us. we got a train back to Madrid, another kind of heat. stairs, birds, sweat, mornings, coconut milk.
