Sigrid’s new album There’s Always More I Could Say might carry a weight of threat in its title, perhaps leaving those previously slapped around by her defiant UK 2017 debut ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ or utterly destroyed by this year’s ‘Fort Knox’ on edge.

Its release at Midnight delivered not a ruthless, point-scoring revenge record though, rather an almost confessional, nostalgia-laden banger.

Sure, there’s anger in there. It’s not hard to find. But dig deeper, and you will also find hurt, maybe even regret. ‘Have You Heard This Song Before’ screams of fatigue with the effort of love. ‘Do It Again’ acceptance. Yet the album bathes in the pleasure, excitement and hope that comes with it too.

She is credited as co-producer for the first time despite her hand always having been on the board, but it shows. Here she experiments, clearly having fun with her long-time friend and collaborator Askjell.

It’s made for radio pop. It’s made for club nights. It’s made for heartbroken teenagers and even older (wiser?) lovers on a journey. It will piss off critics who don’t appreciate some of its departures. It will leave fans overjoyed.

🎵 Rosie H Sullivan has announced ‘Phases’ her six-track EP will be out on 7 Nov, with a live show at a familiar record shop in Edinburgh coming too.

🎵 The extraordinary show Metagama: An Atlantic Odyssey will be performed on two-dates in Edinburgh next Friday and Saturday at the Traverse, followed by a Sunday Show in Cumbernauld.

Writer and poet Donald S Murray, pianist/songwriter Liza Mulholland, Gaelic actor and 7:84 Theatre Company co-founding performer Dolina MacLennan, fiddler Charlie Mackerron of Capercaillie and Session A9, singer-songwriter Willie Campbell, and Canadian cellist Christine Hanson, present this stunning show commemorating the lives of young emigrants in the mass emigration from the Hebrides to Canada in 1923/24.

🎵 Xan Tyler and Dusty Straw have announced an album launch tour for their new collaboration ‘Home’ which blends folk noir, art-rock, and Americana with ‘understated experimental textures’. 🎪 Dougie MacLean marks 50 years as a singer-songwriter taking part in a string of Shades of Amber 2025 shows from 31 Oct to 2 Nov … the rural, boutique weekend festival which stemmed from the long running Perthshire Amber Festival.

“It’s wonderful to have access to the stunningly beautiful setting of Cardney Steading for our weekend of music,” said Dougie. “To bring enthusiasts for my music from all over the world together with special musical friends in the heart of rural Perthshire, the inspiration for so many of my songs and melodies, is truly amazing”.

The Amber Team of musicians who have been involved for almost 20 years with the festival will be joined by wonderfully talented special guests including Cara Dillon with Sam Lakeman, Tim Edey and Capercaillie’s Charlie McKerron.

Hosted by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway and Nicola Meighan, performances on the night will come from KT Tunstall, celebrating her iconic debut Eye To The Telescope as this year’s Modern Scottish Classic Award winner.
