New Album - DLÙ

🎵 Indie trad band DLÙ will take to the stage at SWG3 Warehouse in Glasgow on Friday June 28 to launch their new album Close To. The band’s second album is described as blending fast-paced traditional music with some modern elements of pop and dance to create a completely unique and distinctive sound. “Close To was written with live audiences in mind, based on what listeners responded well to from our first album so we can’t wait to see everyone at the gig, experiencing the album for the first time together,” said the band’s vocalists and fiddler Moilidh NicGriogair

🎶 The Reeling festival at Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow have published the stage times for this weekend’s event featuring the likes of Niteworks, Manran, Fara and Hannah Rarity among many others.

🌍 Sticking with festivals, HebCelt’s newest green initiative comes thanks to funding from EventScotland with the installation of a green energy system known as a micro power grid system, which consists of a suite of micro wind turbines and solar panels. They say the state-of-the-art system will power critical operational infrastructure on site at the grounds on Lews Castle on Stornoway, including the site office, control room and finance office, and organisers anticipate it will have significant carbon savings for the event’s 2024 edition next month. Also to be installed for this year’s eco-friendly festival is advanced monitoring equipment which will provide live insights about the event’s power usage.

The HebCelt team will use a data-led approach to measure and compare how much power is generated this year against power levels consumed in previous years, and calculate the amount of CO2 emissions saved. Funding will also allow event organisers to install an electric vehicle (EV) charge point on site at the grounds of Lews Castle in Stornoway, introducing the option for electric vehicles for transportation to and from the site. Already one of Europe’s top 10 sustainable events, this year will welcome acts including James, Scottish legends Del Amitri, Irish icon Sharon Shannon, trad favourites Kinnaris Quintet, upcoming duo The Laurettes, and many more.

🎸 Before then though Lewis will play host to its own two-day free festival and family day out at Stramash on Willowglen Green including Runrig legend Iain Bayne, Sean Harrison and Band, rockers Bad Actress and many more.

Back with a Bang - Tiree Music Festival

🏝Also happening next month is TMF 2024 takes place on the Isle of Tiree between Friday 12 – Sunday 14 July and is celebrating what will hopefully be a lucky number 13th sold out weekend. It follows a severe weather wipe-out last year, but the spirit of that show remains after organisers revealed an astonishing 93% of acts are back this time around.

Daniel Gillespie, Artistic Director for Tiree Music Festival, said: “It gives us a real sense of pride that we have been able to confirm so many artists due to play at last year’s festival for our 2024 edition. It’s great that we’ve been able to make the logistics work, honour these agreements and can show them, and our incredibly loyal audiences, what TMF is all about. We’re especially excited to welcome Nathan Carter as one of our headliners and just know he will get the Tiree crowds going! We’re determined that this year’s TMF will be an outstanding weekend and we are so grateful to everyone who has chosen to support the festival and join us back on Tiree this summer.”

🎤 Tickets have gone on sale for Del Amitri’s run of December gigs, starting in Aberdeen and finishing with a Barrowland blockbuster.
