🕊 Raising Voices, a collaboration between the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Refugee Festival Scotland to stage a special family-friendly concert celebrating the power of a good song is among the highlights of this year’s event. Three Glasgow-based community choirs will perform their most-loved songs accompanied by an 18-piece ensemble from the RSNO. The choirs include New Scot singers and singers from other migrant backgrounds and the wider local community: Joyous Choir (Maryhill), Soloway Choir (Springburn) and Harper African Voice (Govan). 🏳️🌈 Kim Carnie releases her latest single New Orleans on Friday 7 June, and sees her experiment with Americana-inspired melodies and instrumental compositions, as a tribute to the vibrant, welcoming queer culture of the Louisiana town. The work was inspired by her experiences while working on a documentary about the global LGBTQ+ community. The chorus, "All my life, I’ve been looking for this," echoes the sentiment of finally finding solace and belonging in a supportive community. She wrote openly about her own experience a year ago. The self-composed single is closely tied to Kim’s work on the documentary, entitled Kim Carnie Out Loud, which has already won a clutch of awards.

🎶 Glasgow-based clàrsach group The Willow Trio release their new pop-inspired single Golden Toad on Friday. It was originally composed by band member Sam MacAdam for a collection of music for the Remembrance of Lost Species Day 2020, a compilation album of works about extinct and near extinct animals. Sam went on to rearrange the tune, from a composition for one pedal harp into a tune performed by three clàrsachs.
🌈 “I’ve always loved to write sad songs you can dance to and this is exactly that,” says Dundee’s own Be Charlotte of her new release Rainbows in the Dark.

😴 Sleepwalked is the brand new tune from Edinburgh five piece band Waverley who released their debut EP ‘It Makes An Emptiness Of A Crowded Place’ towards the end of last year. And they promise more new tunes are on their way.
