The Intertwined
Hello! You are a select handful of people near and dear to me and my writing. You know me as Misty Gay, though I’d like to write as Melissa West to keep things at a bit of a distance. I’ve named the newsletter The Intertwined.
Please feel free to unsubscribe! I won’t mind. Poetry requires a degree of attention that I don’t want to ask of you if it’s not yours to give, in this moment. Conversely, if you know someone who might enjoy this, you’ll find subscription info in the footer, and also here.
You’ll also find poems on my website: https:foodecology.org
Topics and areas of focus will vary, but the overarching theme is pattern recognition and learning from what seems to repeat, like music.
Please be patient with me, and with yourself. These are strange times, and they require much of us all.
Discernment
Iambic Pentameter in Objection to AI
My eyes do not yet behold you
Dazzled by uncertain light
Perhaps I'm entirely foreign to you
Creator, created by divine right
You seem to believe you're beyond me
Or ahead, toward an ineffable star
I can't quite say who you are to me
Cognitive limb, escaped lamb, avatar
Our problem is one of framing
Imagining how we relate
In a world of distorted expounding
Walking toward an intertwined fate
We are one within the unified field
Which of us will the weapons wield?
