Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for December 18, 2017! It’s okay if you can’t do everything on the plan. Pick 1 action every day or 3-5 actions for the week and commit yourself to doing them. Whatever your commitment, as President Obama said in his farewell speech: Believe in your ability to bring change. Show up, dive in, stay at it.

- Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 4:30 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. ***On the agenda (item 10) includes a proposal to “delete the position of Director of Library and Community Services, and add the position of Director of Communications and Community Services” as part of “outsourcing library operations”.***

- Read-up on What’s in the Final Republican Tax Bill, GOP Tax Bill: How The Final Version Would Affect You and
- Contact Rep. Hunter and let him know that you opposed both the House and Senate-version of H.R.1, the Trump & GOP Tax Plan which would fund a $1.5 trillion tax cut for the rich and corporation by a $4.5 trillion tax increase for the middle-class and poor; by 2027, it would increase tax by $3,980 according to CBO for many Americans earning <$75,000. Ask him to vote no on the Senate amended H.R.1. Tuesday
- Read-up on In Focus: Immigrant Families, Including Immigrants Lawfully in the U.S. and Those Who Are Undocumented, Report Rising Fear and Anxiety Affecting Their Daily Lives and Health.
- Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to co-sponsor H.R.3591 (or the American Hope Act), which would provide DREAMers in Rep. Hunter’s district a path to citizenship. Note that Rep. Hunter has stated that “I will not support any immigration reform effort, including DACA, that does not address border enforcement and put national security first” so make it clear that you want a clean bill, no amendments to fund a border wall or increase deportations. - Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and ask them to pass a clean DREAM Act (S.1615) which protects DREAMers from deportation. No amendments to fund a border wall or increase deportations. See Dreamer Pledge and Demand Congress Pass a Clean DREAM Act.
Wednesday
- Read-up on Will Congress Keep Children's Health Insurance Program Afloat?, Doug Jones Called on Congress to Fund CHIP. Why Hasn’t It?, and House GOP Spending Bill Falls Short on CHIP, Community Health Centers, Puerto Rico.
- Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and ask them to renew the Children's Health Insurance Program for another 5 years using a bipartisan approach. Let them know that you’re concerned about H.R.3922, which passed the House and would renew the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for another 5 years, but cut funding from Prevention and Public Health Fund.
