REMINDER: Accountability Rally Saturday, 11 am, Don't Shop at Dane White Supporter Talk of the Town

Time for accountability for those who are enabling and supporting ICE presence through BIG donations to Mayor Dane White’s re-election campaign. Join us in a peaceful, boycott rally Saturday, May 16th from 11 AM to 1 PM outside Talk of the Town Car Wash to send a clear message (400 Brotherton Road, Escondido, CA 92025): funding Mayor White means funding ICE in our community, and there are consequences for that choice. Sign Up here

Background

On February 25th, Mayor Dane White and the Escondido City Council allowed the city’s contract allowing immigration enforcement agents (HSI) to use the Escondido Police Department firing range, over the objections of hundreds of residents who showed up to oppose it. However, Mayor White responded not with listening, but with a fundraising appeal that mocked and dismissed the concerns of his own constituents, and proudly proclaimed he supported federal immigration enforcement in Escondido. The abductions and detentions continue.

Mayor White is up for re-election this November, and Talk of the Town Car Wash donated $5,500 to his re-election campaign  (Feb 2026 filing, page 14). When you get your car washed at Talk of the Town, your money is going to support a Mayor who refuses to acknowledge the harm ICE is creating for families, and inviting more immigration enforcement into Escondido, putting us all at risk.

Local businesses that fund his campaign should know that Escondido residents are paying attention, and making choices about where they spend their money accordingly. Don’t get your car washed at ‘Talk of the Town’, go to one of the many other car washes that doesn’t support more ICE in Escondido.

If you would like to participate in the boycott in person, join us Saturday, May 16th from 11 AM to 1 PM outside Talk of the Town Car Wash to send a clear message (400 Brotherton Road, Escondido, CA 92025): funding Mayor White means funding ICE in our community, and there are consequences for that choice. Sign Up here

There are plenty of other small businesses to get your car washed in Escondido. We’ll see you there.Join us in-person to boycott 'Talk of the Town' on Saturday, May 16th 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
