- Wednesday, September 8, 2021, 2:00 PM: Escondido Library Board of Trustees Special Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item #2 on how LS&S uses Library IQ in the Collection Development process. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. - Saturday, September 18, 2021, 1:00 PM: San Diego County Pre-Mapping (Communities of Interest) Public Hearing for District 3 via Zoom (scroll down to 9/2/21 for link & passcode) or n-Person at Green Dragon Tavern & Museum - 6115 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92011. Communities of Interest Input may also be submitted online at Community Builder Tool.
Escondido Public Library
- Attend Escondido Library Board of Trustees Special Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025 on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, 2:00 PM to hear how LS&S uses Library IQ in the Collection Development process (Item #2).

California Gubernatorial Recall Election
- Read-up on How To Vote In The Recall Election If You Missed The Registration Deadline.
- Vote! Mail ballots went out on August 16, 2021. Drop off your mail ballot via USPS or at a mail ballot drop-off location or vote in-person. Early in-person voting has started from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Registrar’s office and from Saturday, Sept. 11 through Tuesday, Sept. 14, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a polling place near you or the Registrar’s office. Redistricting
- Read-up on Escondido Indivisible’s Communities of Interest Input: How to Keep Communities from Being Split or Underrepresented During Redistricting.
- Watch San Diego County IRC Pre-Mapping (Communities of Interest) Public Hearing Replay on September 2, 2021 in Escondido and read-up on Meeting Presentation, including an introduction in the beginning about San Diego County Redistricting process and how to provide input. The IRC also talked about 2020 Unadjusted Census Data where the percent deviation for District 3 is 1.7% and will need to be adjusted in the redistricting. The public during the meeting mainly advocated for keeping the 78 Freeway Corridor Cities (Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside and Carlsbad) together.
- Watch California Communities of Interest Input Meeting for Imperial & San Diego County Replay on September 2, 2021, including an introduction in the beginning about the California Redistricting process and how to provide input. Some public comments involved Escondido advocated for keeping (1) Escondido with Valley Center, Hidden Meadows, Fallbrook, Bonsall, Temecula, and Rainbow as part of rural agriculture community of interests together and (2) the 78 Freeway Corridor Cities (Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Oceanside and Carlsbad) together.
- Submit your Communities of Interest Input for San Diego County Redistricting at Community Builder Tool and to Center on Policy Initiatives at bit.ly/SDCR_COI.
- Submit your Communities of Interest Input for California Redistricting at Draw My CA Community.
COVID-19 & Economic Inequality
- Read-up on Pandemic Related Unemployment Benefits Expire On Saturday and Many Hesitate To Apply For County Rental Assistance Programs.
- Read-up on San Diego County Supervisors Declare COVID-19 Misinformation A Public Health Crisis and Assembly Follows San Diego County In Declaring Medical Misinformation Health Crisis.
- Contact the Board of Supervisors and ask for the reinstatement of the county eviction moratorium given the ongoing economic recovery, pandemic and resurgence of COVID-19 cases in San Diego. The Supreme Court struck down the CDC limited nationwide eviction moratorium, California eviction moratorium is set to expire at the end of September and County eviction moratorium expires last month.
- Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation to federally pause eviction given the ongoing economic recovery, pandemic and resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
