EscInd: Weekly Action Plan for September 25, 2017
Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for September 25, 2017! As we nears the end of September, our country remains in a series of crises: continual threats to our healthcare, devastations in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands, a new travel ban, and a president who repeatedly threatens our right to protest racial injustice, who starts an upmanship conflict with North Korea when tension is already high, and who continues to upend our country’s norms.
But to quote former President Obama this week: “It’s certainly frustrating to have to mobilize every couple months to keep our leaders from inflicting real human suffering on our constituents. But… typically that’s how progress is won. And how progress is maintained, on every issue, we have to stand up for each other, recognize that progress is never inevitable, that it often can be fragile, it’s in need of constant renewal, and our individual progress and our collective progress depends on our willingness to roll up our sleeves and work, and not be afraid to work.”
