Voting Rights
  • Read-up on What Is The Voting Rights Act?, New Texas voting bill deepens growing disparities in how Americans can cast their ballots and Senate Democrats Forge Agreement On New Voting Legislation.
  • Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and urge them to pass legislation to restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act of 1965 such as H.R.1/S.1, H.R.4 and S.2747. Note that Representative Issa voted no on H.R.1 (which passed the House but was blocked in the Senate by the filibuster) and H.R.4 (which also passed the House). COVID-19 & Economic Inequality
  • Read-up on The Pandemic's New Faces Of Hunger And Food Insecurity, Poverty fell in 2020 amid massive stimulus checks and unemployment aid, Census Bureau says and The big drop in American poverty during the pandemic, explained.
  • Contact the Board of Supervisors and ask for the reinstatement of the county eviction moratorium given the ongoing economic recovery, pandemic and resurgence of COVID-19 cases in San Diego. The Supreme Court struck down the CDC limited nationwide eviction moratorium, California eviction moratorium is set to expire at the end of September and County eviction moratorium expires last month.
  • Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation to federally pause eviction and provide more financial COVID-19 aid given the ongoing economic recovery, pandemic and resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
