Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for October 10, 2022! Mail ballots have started going out since Saturday, October 8, 2022 for the General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 (~30 days away). Check your voter registration and register to vote if you’re eligible to vote.

- Tuesday, October 11, 2022, 9:00 AM: San Diego County Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting at Board Of Supervisors North Chamber Room 310, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101. - Thursday, October 13 2:00 PM: Escondido Library Board of Trustees Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Voting Plan
- Read-up on Over half the GOP candidates running in 2022 are election deniers. Rep. Issa running for the 48th House District which includes part of Escondido is identified as an election denier.
- Read-up on What you need to know to vote in California's 2022 General Election, How to vote when you don't have an address or are experiencing homelessness and How to vote in jail or if you have a record.
- Check your voter registration and register to vote if you’re eligible to vote.
- Plan to vote. The General Election will be Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Mail ballots have started going out to all voters since October 8th. Ballots can be dropped off at any postal offices or Ballot Drop Box Locations starting from October 10th to November 7th, including Escondido Public Library, North Inland Live Well Center at Mission Ave, Major Market at Center Parkway, Oakmont of Escondido Hills. Check your voting registration or Where’s My Ballot to track your ballot.
- Early in-person voting will start at the following Vote Center Locations from October 29th to November 7, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Election Day, November 8th, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. In Escondido: Westfield North County Community Room from October 29th to November 8th and Central Elementary School Family Resource Room, Park Avenue Community Center Oak Room, Reidy Creek Elementary School, Rincon Middle School, Rock Springs Elementary School, Oak Hill Elementary School, Orange Glen High School, Rose Elementary School, and Del Lago Academy from November 5th to November 8th.
- Explore San Diego Registrar Election Information and Escondido Election 2022 (scroll down to “Candidate Information by District” and “Ballot Measures” section).
- Note that the Escondido Municipal Election will include the following candidates (so far): Paul "Mac" McNamara and Dane White for Mayor, Consuelo Martinez and Mike Johnson-Palomares for City Council District 1, and Joe Garcia and Jeff Griffith for City Council District 2 (both districts recently re-districted). City ballot measures include: ¾ cent sales tax (Measure E), term limits (Measure F) & treasure compensation (Measure G).
- And at the state-level, there will be 7 state ballot measures including Proposition 1 to codify a right to an abortion and contraceptives.
Reproductive Rights
- Read-up on Abortion Rights Proposition Is Heating Up North County Politics.
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation such as H.R.8373 to “codify access to contraception into federal law” and H.R.8296 to codify abortion rights. Note that Representative Issa voted no on H.R.8373/H.R.8296 (and had previously praised the overturn of Roe vs. Wade and also voted against codifying abortion rights) but H.R.8373/H.R.8296 passed the House. Immigration
- Read-up on Thousands of San Diego residents impacted by latest DACA court ruling.

- Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and urge them to pass “Comprehensive Inclusive Immigration Reform” such as H.R.6, which provides “permanent legal protections and a pathway to citizenship for DACA and TPS recipients”, H.R.1603, which provides protections for migrant farmworkers, and H.R.1177, which also provides a pathway to citizenship for DACA and TPS recipients along with migrant farmworkers. Note that Representative Issa voted no on H.R.6 & H.R.1603 which passed the House and now in the Senate for consideration. See Demand Congress Enact Comprehensive Immigration Reform, DACA turns 10! Now, we need Permanent Protections for ALL, Protect DACA and TPS Recipients with the Dream and Promise Act, and Major Immigration Reform for Agriculture Garners Bipartisan Support.
