Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for October 2, 2017! Local Indivisible groups in San Diego are fundraising for a public address system to be used in local rallies and events; $1,810 has already been donated out of $3,000 goal so any contributions would be greatly appreciated!

Comment on Homeland Security Department’s proposed amendment on the Privacy Act of 1974 which allows the department to “collect social media information on all immigrants, including permanent residents and naturalized citizens. Contact Governor Brown and ask him to sign SB-54, which limits instances in which state and local resources are used for immigration enforcement without a judicial warrant, into law. The bill is at the Governor’s desk as of Sept. 22, 2017.

Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to co-sponsor H.R.3222 (or Do No Harm Act) which protects “religious freedom without being used to discriminate against women, the LGBT community, and others.” See ACLU Statement on Reintroduction of Do No Harm Act.
