- Wednesday, October 13, 2021, 5:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item #15 on ad hoc subcommittee to review the city’s financial status. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. - Thursday, October 14, 2021, 11:00 AM: California Citizens Redistricting Commission Line Drawing Meeting for Southern California (Zones I, J, K), Inland Northern and Central California (Zones B, D, F, G) via Teleconference. See Agenda. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at videossc.com here.
- Thursday, October 14, 2021, 2:00 PM: San Diego County Independent Redistricting Commission Regular Meeting via Zoom or In-Person at County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 302, San Diego, CA 92101. Agenda is not available yet but will be posted at IRC Upcoming Meeting Agendas. Public comments may be made via Independent Redistricting Commission eComment.

Redistricting
- Watch SDC IRC Special October 7, 2021 Meeting Replay, read-up on Item 5: COI Summary Presentation and Item 6: Springboard Scenarios Presentation and explore SDC IRC Supervisorial District Springboards. Springboards are map visualizations that “represent four potential starting points and are intended to spur discussion amongst the community regarding how they would like the supervisorial districts to be redistricted”. Springboard Scenario #1 is the only scenario so far that puts most of Escondido with its North County neighbors. See also County of San Diego IRC Community Builder Public Feedback, which includes maps and responses of Communities of Interest Inputs received so far. Note that the feedback doesn’t include inputs submitted outside of the Community Builder tool such as in-person oral or email communications, etc.

COVID-19 & Recovery

- Contact Supervisor Lawson-Remer and ask for the reinstatement of the county eviction moratorium given the ongoing economic recovery, pandemic and resurgence of COVID-19 cases in San Diego. The Supreme Court struck down the CDC limited nationwide eviction moratorium, California eviction moratorium has expired and County eviction moratorium expired last month.
Postal Service

- Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to support H.R.3076 and S.1720 to repeal the requirement for the USPS to “pre-fund retirement health care costs for 75 years into the future” which had placed an undue burden on the USPS’ operations budget. Note that Senator Padilla is a co-sponsor for S.1720.
