EscInd: Weekly Action Plan for Nov. 9, 2020

Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for November 9, 2020! We successfully voted out Donald Trump! We voted out a president who was impeached for abuse of power, lost the popular vote by 3-5+ millions twice and who continued to be relentlessly unkind and demonized us in words, actions and policies.

Take a long moment to acknowledge and celebrate our accomplishments, joy and relief as well as to process the stress, grief and harm that his presidency has caused us.

Our fight is far from over, unfortunately: former representative of the 49th District, Darrell Issa, has been elected to our 50th District. Here is a man who continued to support Donald Trump and who failed to hold Trump accountable for any of his long list of abuses of power. Our goal will be to remind Representative-Elect Issa that he answers to us as his constituents and we do not welcome his support of Donald Trump.

In our Escondido City Council races: District 2 is still too close to call with a margin of 584 votes (3.4%) between the top-2 candidates with ~2,378 (12%) ballots left to be counted.  While the results for the other districts are unlikely to change although competitive: District  3 has a margin of 1,528 (12.4%) with 1,513 (11%) ballots left; and District 4 has a margin of 2,880 (18.6%) with ~2,235 (13%) left.

Lastly, consider supporting voter outreach organizations such as Black Voters Matter, Fair Fight, and The New Georgia Project as they get the vote out for Georgia’s Runoffs Election.
