Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for November 30, 2020! Pick an action or two and commit yourself to doing them. As President Obama said in his farewell speech: Believe in your ability to bring change. Show up, dive in, stay at it. Stay safe and healthy!

Actions | Contact Info for Elected Officials | Tips for Communicating with Public Officials
Local COVID-19 Response
  • Read-up on More California Counties Ratchet Up Measures Amid Surge.
  • Contact the Board of Supervisors and urge them to implement tighter restrictions to contain widespread community COVID-19 outbreaks (We’re at 15.7 case rate, 86 community outbreaks, and 19.7% hospitalization increase).
  • Contact the Escondido City Council and express concerns about COVID-19 positivity rate in the city. Ask for increased public health and safety education and communication at the city level (We’re at 22.6 case rate and 126 total hospitalization rate, 23.6 intensive care, and 25.1 mortality, ones of the highest in North County Inland).
Federal COVID-19 Response
  • Read-up on Nearly 19 million Americans could lose their homes when eviction limits expire Dec. 31, Evictions have led to hundreds of thousands of extra Covid cases and A growing number of Americans are going hungry.
  • Contact Senator Feinstein and urge her to also pass additional COVID-19 relief such as proposed by the HEROES Act. See Urge Congress to Pass Additional Coronavirus Relief Measures and Indivisible's HEROES Act Summary.
Health Care
  • Read-up on 'A big safety net': Affordable Care Act filled need, fended off dismantling in 2020 and The Supreme Court case that could kill Obamacare, explained.
  • Contact Senator Feinstein and support legislation to “reinstate a financial penalty (even a penalty as small as $1) for not having insurance or by repealing the individual mandate itself”.  See Demand Congress Protect the Affordable Care Act (yes, again).
