Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for May 22, 2017! Escondido Indivisible is a grassroots group dedicated to affecting changes in our local community. Our website is at EscondidoIndivisible.com, and our sister group is at Escondido Indivisible on Facebook. Send us links and comments at EscondidoIndivisible50@gmail.com and @EscInd50 on Twitter. If you were forwarded this letter, you can subscribe here, and check the archive here.
Many of the resistance groups like ours have initiated a new effort to reach out and connect with people in our neighborhoods and districts. Our effort is called Neighbor to Neighbor and we are asking everyone to please adopt your precinct or neighborhood and talk with people about their concerns, issues, and priorities. We will train you and give you all the materials you need. It will be fun! Plus, you’ll make tons of new friends in your area. Please contact us for more information at EscondidoIndivisible50@gmail.com.

Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to sign petition 115-2 to discharge H.R.356 (or the Protecting Our Democracy Act), which establishes an independent commission to investigate the Russian government’s interference into our 2016 Election. A special counsel has been appointed, but it’s also important for Congress to fulfill its duties, and provide a review of the interference and recommend measures to combat future interference. In addition, doubts are increasing about the Republican party’s knowledge of the Trump campaign’s possible involvement in the Russian government’s interference, and a public finding published by an independent commission would reassure the American public that threats to our national security is being actively combatted instead of being obstructed. There are 191 signatures and we need 218 signatures. See Who Knew What And When. Note that Rep. Hunter went on Fox News to say there’s “nothing wrong” with the President’s firing of FBI director Comey.
-
