Events
- Thursday, May 19, 2022, 9:00 AM: San Diego County Board of Supervisors Meeting on the County Budget at Board Of Supervisors North Chamber Room 310, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at sandiegocounty.gov here. Public comments may be made via eComment service or via email to publiccomment@sdcounty.ca.gov. See Voice Your Opinion.
Voting Plan
- Read-up on San Diego Primary Election Guide, Races to Watch in North County and San Diego Sheriff’s Race Is an Open Contest for First Time In Decades.
- Read-up on KPBS & Voter Edge Voter Hub, CalMatters' California Election 2022 Voter Guide and San Diego Election Information, including Your Sample Ballot. California Primary Election will be on June 7, 2022 (~30 days away).
- Check your voting registration status and updated district information, and register to vote if you’re eligible and not registered.
- Plan to vote. Mail ballots have been mailed to all voters and can be dropped off at any postal offices or Ballot Drop Box Locations starting May 9th to June 7th (closed May 30th), including Escondido Public Library, Major Market at Center Parkway, Oakmont of Escondido Hills, Champagne Village, and Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District. Check your voting registration or Where’s My Ballot to track your ballot.
- For in-person voting, the following Vote Center Locations will be open from May 28 to June 6, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Election Day, June 7, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. In Escondido: Westfield North County Community Room from May 28 to June 6 and Central Elementary School Family Resource Room, Girl Scouts Escondido Center, and Park Avenue Community Center Oak Room from June 4 to June 7.
COVID-19 Response & Recovery

- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to support S.3726 which funds research on long COVID-19. Ask for more funding to provide free testing, vaccination and treatment for COVID-19 and aid for the global pandemic response. See Va. Sen. Tim Kaine still has long covid symptoms, introduces bill to research the phenomenon.

Gun Violence & White Supremacy
- Read-up on Gunman Targeted Black Neighborhood Shaped by Decades of Segregation and Katherine 'Kat' Massey: 'We lost a powerful voice' [...] A year ago, she penned a letter in support of more federal regulation of firearms, in which she talked about both urban street violence and mass shootings.
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and express support for H.R.8/S.529 and H.R.1446 to expand background checks for gun purchases. Senators Feinstein and Padilla are co-sponsors of S.529. Note that Representative Issa voted no on H.R.8 & HR.1446 but both bills passed the House. Escondido Budget
- Read-up on Escondido council bristles at taking $8.5 million from pension fund to cover projected budget deficit.
- Complete Escondido City’s survey on “local community priorities and City service needs” for the budget as the city is facing “an $8 million budget gap” and call for more funding to community-based programs and services.
