EscInd: Weekly Action Plan for May 15, 2017
Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for May 15, 2017! Escondido Indivisible is a grassroots group dedicated to affecting changes in our local community. Our website is at EscondidoIndivisible.com, and our sister group is at Escondido Indivisible on Facebook. Send us links and comments at EscondidoIndivisible50@gmail.com and @EscInd50 on Twitter. If you were forwarded this letter, you can subscribe here, and check the archive here.
And a quick note: be safe. The alt-right held a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia yesterday night to promote fear and intolerance and stop the progression of change. Look out for each others in the streets and leave when situations escalate. You’re not alone. Be safe.

Contact Rep. Hunter and ask when is his next town hall. Script: “Hi, I’m a constituents from [City, Zip Code]. Is he planning to have a town hall during this district recess? When is he planning to hold his next town hall that he promised his constituents?” If you haven’t already, sign the petition by Indivisible NCSD and request Rep. Hunter to hold a public town hall in a central location at a venue which can accommodate at least 500 participants.
-
Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and thank them for supporting an independent investigation of the Russian government’s interference into the 2016 Election. Tell them that you support S.27 and the establishment of an independent commission. S. 27 was referred to Senate Committee on Rules and Administration of which Senator Feinstein is a member, and she is an original co-sponsor of S. 27. See Constitutional Crisis: Truth or Trump, Russian Interference in American Politics and What’s Next After Comey Firing? California Lawmakers Weigh In.

Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to co-sponsor H.R.356 (or the Protecting Our Democracy Act), which establishes an independent commission for investigating the Russian government’s interference into the 2016 Election. H.R. 356 was referred to Foreign Affairs Committee and Rep. Issa in our 49th sister district is on the committee. See Let us Urge Rep. Hunter to Support an Independent Commission and Calling for an Independent Investigation - Now!
-
Contact Senator Feinstein and ask her to demand AG Sessions resign. AG Sessions had recused himself from matters related to Russia-Trump ties, and at his confirmation hearing, he said that he would recuse from matters related to Hillary Clinton. Yet he recommended the firing to FBI Director Comey. See Does Sessions Have to Recuse Himself on Russia Investigations? And House Democrats Say Sessions Might Have Broken the Law in the Comey Firing
-
Contact Senator Harris and let her know that you support her call for AG Sessions to resign.
Wednesday (Social Media Campaign Day)

-
Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and ask them to demand AG Sessions, Deputy AG Rosenstein and FBI Director Comey testify before a public hearing. AG Rosenstein met with Senate Intel Committee in a closed meeting last week, and he is scheduled to meet with the full Senate in a closed meeting this week. FBI Director Comey has indicated that he’s only willing to testify in public. See I was scared of the FBI with Comey in charge. I’m more terrified now that he’s been fired and Et Tu Rod? Why The Deputy Attorney General Must Resign.

Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to sign petition #115-1 to discharge H.R.305 (Presidential Tax Transparency Act) which requires the President to disclose their tax returns. Rep. Hunter has said he saw no needs for President Trump to release his tax returns, but a recent released letter from President Trump’s lawyers about the President’s $100 Million 'Exceptions' in Russian Income shows that there are no reasons for President Trump to not release his tax returns if he is able to send a certified letter.
-
Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and let them know that you’re concerned about the President’s letter on his “$100 Million 'Exceptions' in Russian Income”.
