Escondido Campaign Finance Controls
- Read-up on New Escondido council erases campaign finance reforms enacted by predecessors.
- Read-up on our Twitter thread and blog post about newly elected City Council majority undoing Escondido campaign finance reforms. Councilmembers Inscoe (D2), Garcia (D3) and Morasco (D4) voted 3-2 to (1) allow them - and other local elected officers & candidates - to carryover leftover campaign funds to a new campaign account and to (2) exempt political parties from the City's campaign laws. This will especially benefit Councilmember Morasco who can carryover $32,828.65 from his current on-hand campaign fund to his next election campaign.
- Write a letter to the editor about the newly elected City Council majority undoing Escondido finance campaign reforms. Call on the City Council to pull the proposed Ordinance 2020-27 from being made into law.
- Contact the Escondido City Council and oppose the stripping away of our city’s campaign reforms. If you’re represented by Councilmembers Inscoe (D2), Garcia (D3) or Morasco (D4), express disappointment on their vote to strip away of our city’s campaign reforms and call on them to pull the proposed Ordinance 2020-27 from being made into law.

- Read-up on California Revenues Soar As Rich Get Richer During Pandemic and Mr. Biden’s bottom-up $1.9 trillion aid package is a sharp reversal from the tax cut bill that was President Donald J. Trump’s first big legislative victory.
- Contact Supervisor Lawson-Remer and express concerns about still widespread community spread of COVID-19 & variant strains (we’re at 10.8 case rate and 28 community outbreaks and still in the purple tier).
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and thank them for supporting the American Rescue Plan for additional COVID-19 relief. Note that Representative Issa did not prioritize helping the American people, voted no on American Rescue Plan and, in fact, skipped voting in person on that American Rescue Plan to speak at CPAC. The House is expected to make a final vote on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. See Support the Biden-Harris Coronavirus Rescue Plan - Final Vote Tuesday and Tell your representative to pass the American Rescue Plan ASAP!
