Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for March 23, 2020! We hope that you’re all taking care and staying safe and healthy! We’ve made eviction, mortgage and rent an informational post about COVID-19 so check it out. How are you all managing our stay-at-home order? Be sure to take the Census 2020 when you get the chance!
- Wednesday, March 25, 2020, 9:00 AM: Board Of Supervisors Regular Meeting via teleconference. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at sandiegocounty.gov here Agenda includes item #19 on an eviction moratorium during COVID-19 crisis, item #21 on SDC COVID-19 Response and item #22 on providing immediate relief to the hospitality, food and beverage industry. Public comments may be made via eComment service (March 25th comments are not open yet) or via email to publiccomment@sdcounty.ca.gov.
- Wednesday, March 25, 2020, 6:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting via teleconference. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. Agenda includes item #13 on board appointments and #14 and District 2 City Council vacancy. Public comments may be made via Public Comment Form.
Census 2020
- Share info about Census 2020: What Is the 2020 Census?, Ways To Respond, Questions Asked and Sample questionnaire in English and Spanish/Español.
- Take the Census 2020 if you have already received an official invitation from the Census Bureau (invitations started being mail mid-March).
COVID-19 Local Response
- Read-up on San Diego leaders back freeze on evictions tied to coronavirus outbreak despite landlord concerns and Board Of Supervisors Meeting Agenda’s item #19 on an eviction moratorium during COVID-19 crisis, item #21 on SDC COVID-19 Response and and item #22 on providing immediate relief to hospitality, food and beverage industry.
- Contact Supervisor Gaspar and express your support on an eviction moratorium during COVID-19 crisis and to continue to provide funding for the COVID-19 Response. Thank her for bringing up the eviction moratorium to the Board of Supervisors, but ask her to support also freezing rent and mortgages as well
- Contact Escondido City Council and ask them to establish an eviction, mortgage and rent moratorium during COVID-19 in Escondido as well.
COVID-19 Federal Response

- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and thank them for voting to support H.R.6201 (or Families First Coronavirus Response Act). Ask them to continue legislation such as Rep. Escondido City Council District 2
- Read-up on Escondido City Council needs to fill vacant seat Escondido City Council Meeting Agenda’s item #13 on board appointments and #14 and District 2 City Council vacancy. Choice Quote: “City officials said the remaining members of the council have two options and most assume they will choose to appoint a replacement for Masson’s District 2 seat. Then, come the November elections, the seat will appear on the ballot. The winner of that contest would then serve out the remaining two years of Masson’s current term.”
