Events
- Wednesday, June 8, 2022, 5:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item #6 on the city budget and how to address the upcoming budget deficit (one of the worst-cases presented but not recommended is closing the public library). Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. Public comments may be made via Public Comment Form.
- Thursday, June 9, 2022, 2:00 PM: Escondido Library Board of Trustees Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item #2 on Officer Election and Item #3 on Library Annual Report. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. Public comments may be made via Public Comment Form. Voting Plan
- Read-up on Politics Report: Signs Point to a Low-Turnout (for the upcoming California Primary Election).
- Read-up on CalMatters' California Election 2022 Voter Guide, San Diego Primary Election Guide, KPBS & Voter Edge Voter Hub, and San Diego Election Information, including Your Sample Ballot. California Primary Election will be on this Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
- Vote. Mail ballots have been mailed to all voters and can be dropped off at any postal offices or Ballot Drop Box Locations up to June 7th, including Escondido Public Library, Major Market at Center Parkway, Oakmont of Escondido Hills, Champagne Village, and Rincon del Diablo Municipal Water District. Check your voting registration or Where’s My Ballot to track your ballot.
- For in-person voting, the following Vote Center Locations will be open up to June 6, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Election Day, June 7, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. In Escondido: Westfield North County Community Room from May 28 to June 6 and Central Elementary School Family Resource Room, Girl Scouts Escondido Center, and Park Avenue Community Center Oak Room from June 4 to June 7.
Gun Violence

- Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation addressing gun violence like H.R.2377 to instate red flag laws, H.R.8/S.529 and H.R.1446 to expand background checks for gun purchases, and H.R. 1108/S. 736 to reinstate the ban on assault weapons. Senators Feinstein and Padilla are co-sponsors of S.529, and Senator Feinstein of S. 736. Note that Representative Issa voted no on H.R.8 & HR.1446 but both bills passed the House. Racial Justice
- Read-up on California details racist past in slave reparations report.
- Contact State Senator Jones and ask him to support AB-1630 to strengthen the Vulnerable Defendant’s Right to a Fair Trial, ensure “due process for defendants deemed incompetent to stand trial and [put] a stop to one of the ways individuals with mental illness are cycled through the criminal legal system instead of receiving adequate treatment.” Note that Assemblymember Waldron had voted no on AB-1630.
