The General Election will be Tuesday, November 8, 2022 which will include Escondido Municipal Election for Mayor, City Council Seat #1 and #2. Check your voting registration and register to vote if you’re eligible and not registered.
Events
- Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 9:00 AM: San Diego County Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting at Board Of Supervisors North Chamber Room 310, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101. Agenda includes Item #15 on teleconference meeting continuance. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at sandiegocounty.gov here. Abortion Rights
- Share National Network of Abortion Funds.
- Read-up on The Necessity of Hope in Post-Roe America, After Roe: What happens to abortion in California? and This is California’s abortion ‘desert.’ Here, calls to subvert state law are growing loud.
- Read-up on Protestors turn out in Escondido to decry decision to overturn abortion rights, San Diego protesters rally against Roe V. Wade reversal, Pro abortion rights rally held outside Escondido City Hall and In Photos: Protests erupt in San Diego following Supreme Court's Dobbs decision.
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation supporting abortion access such as H.R.3755. Note that Representative Issa voted no on H.R.3755 (and praised the overturn of Roe vs. Wade) but H.R.3755 passed the House and was blocked in the Senate. See Codify Abortion Rights.
Gun Violence
- Read-up on Congress passed a new bipartisan gun control bill [S.2938] — here’s what’s in it, States with strict gun-permitting laws consider next steps and California gun laws targeted by Supreme Court ruling.
- Contact Representative Issa, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass more comprehensive legislation addressing gun violence like “a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, raising the age to be able to buy a gun from 18 to 21, universal background checks”. Note that Representative Issa voted no on the Gun Safety Bill (S.2938) along with other gun safety legislation like H.R.8, H.R.1446, H.R.7910, & H.R.2377.

Slavery & Racial Justice
- Read-up on California Senate rejects involuntary servitude amendment.
- Contact State Senator Jones and ask him to pass ACA-3 to put an amendment to ban slavery on the ballot in this upcoming election. ACA-3 failed to pass the Senate this past June 23rd but is up for another reading and reconsideration on June 27th. Note that Senator Jones did not vote on the bill when it was on the legislature floor or committee.
