Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for December 13, 2021! It’s Indivisible National 5-Year Anniversary, and they posted a 5-year anniversary edition reflection about political despair, hope, and power. Happy Anniversary! (Ours will be next February!)
 
Events
  • Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 2:00 PM: San Diego County Independent Redistricting Commission Approval Report via Zoom or In-Person at San Diego County Operations Center, 5520 Overland Ave, San Diego, CA 92123. Agenda will be posted by Monday evening, but on December 11th, the commission approved Final Draft Scenario 3b (now referred to as 2021 Redistricting Plan Map). Public comments may be made via Independent Redistricting Commission eComment and other methods.
  • Wednesday, December 15, 2021, 5:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item #12 on the appointment of Councilmember Inscoe as Deputy Mayor and Item #15 on City Council Salary Increase. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. Public comments may be made via Public Comment Form.

San Diego County Redistricting
  • Read-up on Final vote on new boundaries for county supervisor districts delayed.
  • Explore Final Draft Scenario 3b and 2021 Redistricting Plan Map.
  • Comment on the 2021 Redistricting Plan Map. On December 11th, the commission approved Final Draft Scenario 3b (now referred to as 2021 Redistricting Plan Map). Escondido will be in District 5 with other North County cities and tribal lands (sans Carlsbad which will move to District 3 along with other Coastal cities).
California Redistricting
  • Explore California Redistricting Draft Maps.
  • Comment on California Redistricting Draft Maps. In the latest draft map updates on December 10-11th, Escondido is split between two U.S. Congressional Districts, CD_SMESCPOW_ITERATION and CD_SDCOAST_ITERATION, along Bear Valley Pkwy, Grant Ave and Valley Pkwy. For the State Assembly District, Escondido is with San Marcos, San Pasqual and Rancho Bernando under AD76-ESC-SA. For the State Senate District, Escondido with Valley Pkwy down to Poway and Santee, etc. under SD_SD-POW-ESC_DRAFT. 
COVID-19 & Recovery
  • Read-up on The First Year of COVID: Filipinos Were Among Hardest Hit, But Hidden by Data California prepares for winter COVID-19 surge; if not from Omicron, then from Delta, and Pandemic-Era ‘Excess Savings’ Are Dwindling for Many.
  • Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass an inclusive recovery package under H.R.5376. Note that Representative Issa voted No on expanding child tax credits and universal preschool for children ages 3 and 4 among other “safety-net” expansions.
