Election Security
  • Read-up on AP Explains: Congress' fight over election security bills.
  • Contact State Senator Jones and ask them to support AB-1217 which requires political issue advertisements to disclose top funders & endorsers. Assemblymember Waldron voted no last May when it was on the Assembly Floor.  The bill’s next hearing will be on August 12, 2019 with the Senate Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee. See State Crunch Time Call-in Week: May 20-24 (scroll down to “AB 1217 – Issue Ad DISCLOSE Act”).
  • Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and ask them to co-sponsor S.1562 which “require campaigns to report any contacts with foreign nationals who are attempting to make campaign donations or otherwise coordinate with the campaign within a week of the contact”.  See Enact the FIRE Act to Require Political Campaigns Disclose Foreign Contacts.
Trump Impeachment
  • Read-up on Majority of House Democrats now support impeachment inquiry and Impeachment Tracker: Majority Of House Democrats Publicly For It.
  • Listen to The Report, Episode 2: Hack, Dump, Divide and The Report, Episode Three: The Campaign and the Leaks.
  • Contact Rep. Hunter, Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and ask them to support H.Res.257 to begin investigating whether Trump should be impeached. Immigration
  • Read-up on ACLU: 911 Children Split At Border Since 2018 Court Order, Civil Rights Unit Of Homeland Security Says It Lacks Power To Protect Migrant Kids and Private prison company sued in death of migrant child,
  • Contact Rep. Hunter, Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and express concerns about continuing reports of inhumane treatment and separation of asylum-seeking families. Express your support for H.R.1069 (which prohibits unlicensed temporary emergency shelters for unaccompanied migrant children), S.388 (which improves resettlement process for unaccompanied migrant children), S.2135 (which ensures that children in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody have timely access to appropriate medical screening and care as well as proper nutrition, hygiene and sanitation) and the end of mass detention of immigrants.
