Events
- Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, 9:00 AM: Board of Supervisors Budget Public Hearing via teleconference. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at sandiegocounty.gov here. See Recommended Budget. - Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, 6:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting via teleconference. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.org here. Agenda includes item #17 on temporary eviction moratorium and #18 on campaign contribution limits. Public comments may be made via Public Comment Form.
- Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, 2:00 PM: Library Board of Trustees Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. No agenda posted as of Sunday, Aug. 9th. Note that last month’s meeting was cancelled with short notice so this one may be similarly cancelled as well. Immigration
- Read-up on Federal agents are expelling asylum seekers as young as 8 months from the border, citing COVID-19 risks.
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and express concerns about continuing reports of inhumane treatment of children asylum seekers in the U.S.
Postal Office Funding
- Read-up on Postal Service overhauls leadership as Democrats press for investigation of mail delays.
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and ask them to support H.R.2382 and S.2965 to repeal the requirement for the USPS to “pre-fund retirement health care costs for 75 years into the future” which had placed an undue burden on the USPS. Election & Voting Rights
- Contact the Escondido City Council and tell them that you support reducing the maximum campaign contribution limits from the current limit of $4,300. See Escondido City Council Meeting Agenda ‘s item #18 on campaign contribution limits
- Contact Senator Feinstein and Senator Harris and ask them to pass H.R.4 to restore and extend key provisions of the Voting Rights Act. Note that H.R.4 has passed the House. See Support HR 4 to Restore Federal Protections Against Voter Suppression.
