- Tuesday, April 4, 2023, 9:00 AM: San Diego County Board of Supervisors Regular Meeting at Board Of Supervisors North Chamber Room 310, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101. Agenda includes Item #25 on Enhancing Homeless Outreach And Services Through Live Well On Wheels Mobile Offices and Item #27 on Expanding Emergency Housing Capacity For Survivors Of Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking, And Sexual Assault. Escondido Budget
- Complete The Escondido Discussion Online Survey (5 to 15 minutes) on “local community priorities and City service needs” and call for more funding to community-based programs and services. For example, creating a Safe Parking Program similar to Encinitas and Vista and a Homeless Outreach and Mobile Engagement similar to La Mesa to address immediate needs of our community.
Homelessness & Affordable Housing
- Read-up on Tenant rights activists show support for Imperial Beach family facing eviction.
- Contact Assemblymember Maienschein and State Senator Jones and ask them to pass SB-567, the Homeless Prevention Act, which “limits rent increases and requires landlords to provide “just cause” for evictions”.
- Complete the San Diego County Housing Blueprint Survey (5 to 15 minutes) to prioritize the county goals in addressing the housing crisis. The survey closes on April 9, 2023.
Reproductive Rights
- Read-up on LAPD's abortion squad went after women, doctors before Roe vs. Wade.
- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation to “codify access to contraception into federal law” and abortion rights. Note that Representative Issa had previously praised the overturn of Roe vs. Wade and voted against codifying abortion rights. See Oppose a National Ban on Abortion.

Gun Violence
- Read-up on California couple a step closer to having gun law named after their daughter killed in mass shooting and What does an AR-15 do to a human body? A visual examination of the deadly damage.
- Contact Assemblymember Maienschein and State Senator Jones and ask them to pass legislation to protect us from gun violence such as SB-2 to ban people from carrying concealed guns into public spaces and “anyone younger than 21 from having a permit to carry their gun concealed and would require all permit holders to have more training, including on how to safely store and transport guns”.
- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass more comprehensive legislation addressing gun violence such as S.25 which will ban assault weapons and S.14 which will raise the age to be able to buy a gun from 18 to 21. Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla are co-sponsors of S.25 & S.14. Note that Representative Issa previously voted no on the Gun Safety Bill (S.2938) along with other gun safety legislation.
