- Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 5:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item #10 on Priorities for Fundings from Community Development Block Grant (“CDBG”), Home Investment Partnership Program (“HOME”) and Emergency Solutions Grants (“ESG”) and Item #12 on Escondido Police Department Military Equipment. - Thursday, April 20, 2023, 2:00 PM: Escondido Library Board of Trustees Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. No agenda posted yet as of April 16, 2023. Escondido Budget
- Watch The Escondido Discussion 2022.
- Attend Escondido Discussion Budget Workshop (on the City Budget Priority) via Zoom on Friday, April 21, 2023, 8:00 AM.
- Complete The Escondido Discussion Online Survey (5 to 15 minutes) on “local community priorities and City service needs” and call for more funding to community-based programs and services. For example, creating a Safe Parking Program similar to Encinitas and Vista and a Homeless Outreach and Mobile Engagement similar to La Mesa to address immediate needs of our community.

Forty percent of nearly three dozen police shootings from 2018 through June 2022 involved someone with mental health issues, a review by The San Diego Union-Tribune found.
Judiciary Reforms

- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to push the Supreme Court to adopt a code of conduct and call for Justice Thomas to resign. See Senate Democrats push for Supreme Court ethics code for justices and Outside groups take a first stab at a Supreme Court ethics code.
- In-Related News: read-up on Texas judge Matthew Kacsmaryk did not disclose law review article to Senate. The judge who delivered a high-stakes abortion pills ruling last week removed his name from a law review article during his judicial nomination process, emails show.
Gun Control
- Read-up on Shooting in Dadeville, Alabama leaves at least 4 dead at a teen's birthday party and Dadeville shooting: 4 dead at Alabama teen’s birthday party.
- Contact Assemblymember Maienschein and State Senator Jones and ask them to pass legislation to protect us from gun violence such as SB-2 to ban people from carrying concealed guns into public spaces and “anyone younger than 21 from having a permit to carry their gun concealed and would require all permit holders to have more training, including on how to safely store and transport guns”.
- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass more comprehensive legislation addressing gun violence such as S.25 which will ban assault weapons and S.14 which will raise the age to be able to buy a gun from 18 to 21. Senator Feinstein and Senator Padilla are co-sponsors of S.25 & S.14. Note that Representative Issa previously voted no on the Gun Safety Bill (S.2938) along with other gun safety legislation.
