Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s action plan for the week of September 30, 2024! We're ~37 days away from Election Day on Tuesday, November 5th. Mail ballots will be mailed next week after October 6th to all registered voters in San Diego County. Register if you’re eligible, check your voter registration, track your mail ballot and plan to vote!

- Wednesday, October 2, 2024, 5:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Grand Avenue Construction Project Update & Grape Day Park Presentations. - Thursday, October 3, 2024, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM: 2024 Escondido City Council Candidate Forum (moderated by Escondido Times-Advocate Editor David Ross and Chamber of Commerce Madam Chair Deanna Smith) at California Center for the Arts, Conference Center, 340 N Escondido Blvd, Escondido, CA 92025. Doors open 6:00 PM. Questions for consideration can be submitted at VoteEscondido.com.

Actions
Election 2024
- Register to vote if you’re eligible, check your voter registration, sign-up to track your mail ballot and plan to vote. The Presidential Election will be on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and mail ballots will be mailed starting the week of October 6 to all registered voters in San Diego County.
- Volunteer to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) and signup to canvass, phone/text bank or write postcards with the Escondido Democratic Club, National Indivisible, Women for Kamala Harris or Postcards To Voters.

Reproductive Rights
- Read-up on She was accused of murder after losing her pregnancy. SC woman now tells her story and Post-Roe, pregnant women face growing risk of criminal prosecution for charges much broader than abortion.
- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Butler and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation to codify abortion, contraception and reproductive rights into federal laws such as H.R.782, H.R.3420 and H.R.4303. Note that Representative Issa had previously praised the overturn of Roe vs. Wade and voted against codifying abortion rights. Judiciary Reforms
- Read-up on Judge Aileen Cannon Failed to Disclose a Right-Wing Junket, US Supreme Court justices, other judges can stay at corporate-owned homes without disclosure and Sweeping bill to overhaul Supreme Court would add six justices.
- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Butler and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation to enforce a code of conduct for the Supreme Court (see previous proposed S.325/H.R.927) and expand SCOTUS such as S.1616/H.R.3422. See Reform the Supreme Court.
