Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s action plan for the week of October 14, 2024! We're ~23 days away from Election Day on Tuesday, November 5th. Mail ballots have been mailed to all registered voters in San Diego County. Register to vote if you’re eligible, check your voter registration, track your mail ballot and plan to vote!

- Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 5:00 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Live broadcast of the meeting will be at escondido.12milesout.com here (When a meeting is in session, a red "Live Streaming - City Council Meeting now in progress" button will be displayed at the top-right corner). Public comments may be made via Public Comment Form.
- Friday, October 25, 2024, 10:30 AM: Escondido Library Board of Trustees Meeting Workshop at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. Agenda includes Item 1 on Status of Library Infrastructure Grant Project, Item 2 on Unfunded Item Discussion and Item 3 on Service Priorities During Temporary Closure. Actions
Election 2024
- Register to vote if you’re eligible, check your voter registration, sign-up to track your mail ballot and plan to vote. The Presidential Election will be on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and mail ballots have been mailed to all registered voters in San Diego County. Voter Info Pamphlet can be found at sdvote.com.
Mail ballots can be dropped off at any U.S. Postal Services Mail Boxes or Registrar Ballot Drop Box Locations, which includes Escondido Public Library, HHSA North Inland Live Well Center, Major Market, Oakmont of Escondido Hills and East Valley Community Center, between now and Election Day.
If by USPS, mailed ballot must be postmarked before or on Election Day to count, and you are recommended to mail your ballot by no later than Tuesday, October 29 to ensure timely delivery.
To vote in-person, you can cast a ballot at:
(1) San Diego Registrar of Voters between now and Monday, November 4, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Election Day, November 5, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., or,
(2) A vote center from Saturday, October 26 to Monday, November 4, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Election Day, November 5, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Vote centers in Escondido include North County Mall Community Room at 272 E Via Rancho Pkwy and Park Avenue Community Center Oak Room at 728 N Broadway.
- Volunteer to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) and signup to canvass, phone/text bank or write postcards with the Escondido Democratic Club, National Indivisible, Women for Kamala Harris or Postcards To Voters.

- Watch the replay of 2024 Escondido City Council Candidate Forum. Of notes, during the Q&As, both Christian Garcia, candidate for District 3, and Judy Fitzgerald, candidate for District 4, expressed support for privatizing and outsourcing operations of the California Center for the Arts like the city did to the Escondido Public Library in 2017, a process the city (and Christian Garcia as City Councilmember) has started by approving in May a request to receive proposals for operations of the center.
Reproductive Rights
- Read-up on It's harder to pay and travel for abortion care and support funds are struggling and How the 2024 Election Will Affect IVF and Abortion Access.
- Contact Representative Issa, Representative Peters, Senator Butler and Senator Padilla and ask them to pass legislation to codify abortion, contraception and reproductive rights into federal laws such as H.R.782, H.R.3420 and H.R.4303. Note that Representative Issa had previously praised the overturn of Roe vs. Wade and voted against codifying abortion rights.
