Democracy Defenders Update
What a roller coaster again this week. We had a big win in Virginia yesterday along with a taco Tuesday. Gas prices are at highs with no end in sight. Food and services pricing is heading higher and higher as well. I’m stocking up at Costco this week. How about you all? I don’t know about you all, but I really want off this ride. That is why I, and I am sure, you are working so hard to make a change.
Virginia’s new maps will potentially give the Democrats another potential four House seats and in California, potential of up to five House seats. We must turn CA48 blue to get our fifth seat. In that vein, I will be holding a meet and greet at my house for Marni von Wilpert. Please contact me if you are interested in attending so that I can send you the registration link.
I believe that you all should hear from our CA48 candidates and choose who you think is the best candidate to win against Jim Desmond. If you missed the link I sent last week with a League of Women Voter’s candidate forum,
We are also in a challenging time with our Governor’s race. Polling has been unclear as to a leading candidate among the long list of Democratic candidates. The three candidates that are polling the highest are Tom Steyer, Xavier Becerra and Katie Porter. If we, as Democrats split the votes between the candidates, we very well may see two republiCons on our ballots in November. The consensus of opinion is for us all to NOT vote as soon as we receive our mail in ballots, but to wait until after watching the four debates that are scheduled for:
Tonight at 7pm on KUSI and FOX5
April 28th 5:30pm on CBS,
May 5th 6:00pm pm CNN
May 6th 7pm on NBC7
When you do vote, we would suggest that you do not mail in your ballot, but to drop it off at a local drop-off location near you. You can Google drop box locations on the San Diego Registrar of Voters website. At this point in time, the list is not on the site, but we suspect will be shortly.
This Friday rally is our donations Friday. We will except any non-perishable food donations to give to our Escondido organization helping our immigrant community. The are in great need of cash donations also. They do have to purchase some of the fresh items right before they set out to deliver to the families.
Remember to sign up for the rally here
Then the following week May 1st, along with our regular rally we will be holding a May Day Strong rally. We will be rallying to stand up for our labor unions and workers. You can sign up for that rally using the link above or by using the May Day Strong link:
There are many other rallies in our North County area and you can find them here: Indivisible North County San Diego · Indivisible North County San Diego on Mobilize
Indivisible North County San Diego · Indivisible North County San Diego ... Grassroots, non-partisan group of American Patriots working to restore democracy and defeat the trump regime.
Remember, a rally a day keeps the fascists away!
Thank you all for being a Democracy Defender,
