Last week, the Mayor and three Councilmembers (Dane White, Joe Garcia, Christian Garcia, Judy Fitzgerald) failed to take action to stop ICE from using our firing range continuing additional ICE presence in Escondido.

However, we refuse to take no for an answer and we do not accept this result. The Council could, at any time, cancel the contract and we will continue to demand that they do so.

Since these elected officials did not listen to the community in the Council Chambers, we will raise awareness of their failure to act all around the city.

Please join the us to protest Joe Garcia’s inaction as he attends the Mariachi Festival this Sunday at the Center for the Arts Escondido from 11-3. Bring your signs along the lines of ‘Cancel the Contract’ and ‘Joe Garcia—support the people not ICE’. Even if you cannot stay the whole time, please come and help us send this clear message.

We love and support the Mariachi Festival on every level. It is a celebration of culture, artistry, community, and all the beautiful aspects of Escondido. We encourage everyone to attend.

But, Joe Garcia cannot hide from his failure to act to protect the community. He will be in attendance. Please attend between 11 and 3 and let him know.
