2025 Unwrapped

Well, would you look at that. I wrote a newsletter in January, and now it’s somehow December and I didn’t bother you all year. So this will mostly be a summary of what I’ve been up to this year - whether with work or personal stuff!
Keep an eye out, though, I should have a very cool writing announcement soon! ;)
Comic Work

Looking back on this year it almost seems like I didn’t do as much work - which is a lie, I’ve barely stopped working! - but that’s because I spent half of the year working on projects that I can’t show anyone yet!
But my Star Wars one-shot came out, Stranger Things and Dungeons and Dragons: The Rise of Hellfire came to an end, as did Volume IV of Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins; The Legend of Korra: Mystery of Penquan Island also came out, as did Daybreaker, the first volume in the Ilustra series.
And I wrote and colored a one-shot for Wish Upon A Star!

Three projects for 2026 have been announced:
I’m going to be coloring the next two graphic novels in the The Whitestone Chronicles series! Cassandra comes out in March 2026, and The Briarwoods comes out in June 2026;
The next The Legend of Korra graphic novel will be focused on Kya, Aang and Katara’s daughter! More info on that one soon.
What I’ve Been Reading
Although I’ve managed to beat my reading slump, I’m still so behind on so many books I’d like to read. Still, here are some of my favourites from this year:

Piranesi, by Susanna Clarke (did you know she has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Here’s an interview she did about that!); The Project, by Courtney Summers; The Ones We’re Meant to Find, by Joan He; The Invocations, by Krystal Sutherland; What Moves the Dead, by T. Kingfisher; Our Wives Under the Sea, by Julia Armfield; The Nice House by the Sea Vol 1, by James Tynion IV, Álvaro Martinez Bueno, and Jordie Bellaire; The Survivor Wants to Die at the End, by Adam Silvera; The Deadly Fates, by Dhonielle Clayton; Wake the Wild Creatures, by Nova Ren Suma; Kill Creatures, by Rory Power; Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, by V.E. Schwab; The Staircase in the Woods, by Chuck Wendig; They Bloom at Night, by Trang Thanh Tran; Not Quite Dead Yet, by Holly Jackson; The Power Fantasy Vol 2, by Kieron Gillen, Caspar Wijngaard, and Clayton Cowles; After We Burned, by Marieke Nijkamp; A Memory Called Empire, by Arkady Martine; The Dead of Summer, by Ryan La Sala; Hell Followed With Us, by Andrew Joseph White.
What I’ve Been Watching
TV Shows: Invasion, Snowpiercer, Dept Q, We Were Liars, Paradise, Black Doves, The Pitt, Pluribus, Slow Horses, Foundation, Only Murders in the Building, Alien: Earth, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Gilded Age, Murderbot, The Last of Us, Doctor Who, Daredevil: Born Again, Andor, Yellowjackets, Severance, Squid Game, The Residence, Stranger Things.
Movies: KPop Demon Hunters, Sinners, The Fantastic Four, Companion, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, 28 Years Later, Thunderbolts, The Thursday Murder Club, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Weapons, Frankenstein, Wake Up Dead Man.
What I’ve Been Playing

I didn’t have a lot of energy to play games this year, but according to Steam, the one I played the most was Star Wars: Outlaws! It took me a little bit to adapt to the different type of gameplay (I was so used to the Jedi games!), but I really enjoyed it! Star Wars will always have a special place in my heart.
Honourable mentions to: Dredge, Blue Prince, and Jusant! I’ve been trying to play more indie games, so if you have any suggestions, please throw them my way.
Other than that, it’s been an exhausting year. I was finally diagnosed with ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), and I still haven’t found a good balance between work and allowing myself to rest. It might not help that I haven’t had any time off since April! I love my work, but I have no energy to focus on my own stuff at the end of the day.
But I do have a couple of weeks off coming up in January, and I’m so looking forward to that! Hopefully 2026 will be the year of focusing on my own personal projects, specially writing.
And I think that’s all! I hope everyone has a great 2026, and thank you for sticking around ‘til the end!
