The start of a busy-busy May

Lots happening these days in my corner of the world, so before I write anything else: this is your warning that I expect three newsletter in May. This one and two others. And all of them actually have important things. As I said, lots happening. So let’s get cracking!

With Tangled Past’s fast approaching release (May 9!!), the now very traditional release week bundle is up on itchio!
With every new release, I put every single previous Nerezia title on discount (33%), but you can also grab the lot of them for $14. That’s $2 per novella!
So hop onto the magical Wagon to start your adventure, or continue where you’re at. This instalment has magical forest critters, dumplings, and so many answers! We’re truly creeping up on the climax now!
And if you’re looking to just buy the latest novella, here is the link to it.

I’m part of an itchio bundle that’s a little different than most. First, its title is a delightful wordplay between grey-ace, the identity, and “grey” characters, as in morally grey. Second, it’s super small!
This is a curated selection of six books with characters on the asexual spectrum (not just grey ace) who are, perhaps, shitty people. Either at times, or always.
I have City of Strife featured, because out of all the ace characters in this book exist dear old Larryn, who is not only literally grey-ace, but also consistently makes problems for everyone (himself included) with bad, anger-driven decision. More on the bad decisions end of the spectrum than the amoral, in my case! Here are the six books:

Did you know I have not one, but two releases this coming month? I have a short story in Being Aro, a mixed genre YA anthology with aromantic characters! I got an advanced copy of it, too, and it’s very good. (If you’re curious about my story, I talked about it on Patreon).
It releases on May 26, and I’m part of a Virtual Launch Party hosted by Charis Books! This is a first for me, and I’m super excited. The launch is free, on May 26, at 7:30 pm (East Coast Time).
Come hang out with me, Rosie Thor, Kalyn Josephson, and Kemi Ashing-Giwa! And if you’re in the US, you can preorder from Charis Books, too. They’re a feminist indie bookstore in Decatur, GA.
Details and Registration
Normally I don’t make entire sections of my newsletter for a single Patreon post, but this felt too important. I have been thinking a lot about the more business side of writing and publishing, and especially about marketing and book prices. If you’re interested in the details, the post went live today.
If you want the TL;DR: I am bringing my prices in line with those of the small queer presses that have reader bases and, to some extent, business models. This will result in an increase across the board, especially on ebooks, effective June 1st. My new standard prices are as follows:
Short stories (6000-9000 words): $1.99 as the standard
Novellas: $6.99 as the standard, $3.99 for the first in series.
Novels (90k+ words): $9.99, $4.99 for the first in series.
Paperbacks are unlikely to see such a big increase. It’ll be more of a “inch up because the price of printing keeps rising”.
So this is sort of your last call for the low prices? Grab them while you can <3

I have been busy this month on Patreon!! Just a lot of cool stuff I finally got around to write (and more coming!) and it’s been a real joy. Let’s make the list!
Book Highlights for the Narratess Sales (Free/Public)
Demon Engine by Marten Norr [Book Review and Discussion] (Paid Patrons)
April 20, 2026 Update: I Always Forget How Much Work This Shit Is (Free Members)
The Making of “Flying Solo” (Paid Patrons)
Why I’m Raising My Prices as an Indie Author (Free/Public)
And there’s already another making-of type post scheduled for May 4 that comes with a cover I did myself <3. See you soon, patrons!
