Gotta love a month that is full of cool announcements. And no, it’s not even about Fragmented, the ninth Nerezia novella coming this October. That’ll have to wait another week or two.

Today, we are talking interactive fiction and Narratess indie sale!

This is my big, big news.

I am under contract with Choice of Games to write a piece of interactive fiction for them. A long one!

If you’re not familiar, imagine something halfway between a novel and a video game, where your choices both impact the story, and build up a set of stats with which you can try to accomplish your goals (and change the endings!). I’ve been working at an outline with them for the last several months, and it’s been approved!

My game is (currently) called On the Aether Currents, and while I want to keep most of it under wraps, it involves a city built on the back of a giant slug-and-whale like creature that flies above a shattered world. You’re the newly-appointed wizard in charge of the creature!

For now, I’m plodding along at the writing of it. We don’t have a release date, but “more than a year from now” is a certainty.

I’m really excited about this: it’s a new challenge, I enjoyed my tiny piece of previous IF, and I was eager to try my hands at something longer. Fun times in the coming year for sure!

The Narratess Indie Sale is a twice-yearly (April and August) sale of indie SFFH that is always chockful of great books. There’s nearly 300 authors participating this time around, but fear not, the site has a ton of filters to help you find your next read!
