July (2026) Monthly Update
Well, this month has been… a hell of a month. I’ll admit that it was a hetic but worth it. So let’s get into it.
IRL Update - Officially on Linux (after 2-3 weeks of PC in the shop)
Originally this was done at the end of May to try to shift away from MicroSlop and how bad the Win 11 updates were especially early on (and with the news about the layoffs mid-June, it makes me more happy I moved away.), but encountered several issues. It ended up being to the point that I have to take it into a repair shop. Longest story short, The PC was damaged, a corrupted Motherboard AND CPU, most likely due to a thunderstorm that happened years ago that knocked out the power 2-3 times in one day; this was before I got a UPS. Guess the damage got worse and worse overtime to the point that it caused all the bluescreens early this year.
Now, it’s back.
Now, it’s in the studio and ready to work. With Ubuntu Studio installed, I went with multiple different softwares and a workaround for Clip Studio Paint! Now it almost feels like nothing changed. Speaking of CSP tho…

Art Update - Forget the schedule
The time away made me think about how I was doing this, and I kinda just need to readjust how I go about art at the moment. So the plan right now, go from scratch, do the comm and the fanart polls that have built up. Anything made? Prep it for that Saturday after completion. The planned art for the month? GONE! FORGOTTEN! Back to the roots to climb back up that weekly schedule I have as the holy grail of my time. Does it suck? YES BUT HOLY SHIT it is necessary at this point. Just like with the streaming stuff, it’s going to take time to rebuild up to where I was but if I can get thru July I should be golden.
I also feel the need to mention but I will not be participating in ArtFight so I can properly build back up. Hope you all understand at the very least.

Streaming Update - New Frontier, New problems
So, any hope of doing any kind of streams is on hold. The reason being is because Elgato does not have anything for Linux machines. This is known and a risk I took as the Stream Decks do have alternatives for support. But with my built-in HD 60? There does not look to be as easy of a connection. Especially with sound as I’ve had to limit myself hard when playing with friends sadly (Prox chat being one of the things I’ve loved I can not do). I’m looking into alternatives, including new hardware to support the sound part and the mic part (Even my Elgato XLR is refusing to use the mic [UPDATE: After a workaround, I was able to fix the issue with the mic, tho no longer have any noise cancelling]). Don’t think I can really do that right now, praying to the goddess in the near future.
I’ve also been meaning to make a video explaining why I’ve basically stopped streaming. It’s kinda a lot. And I’m hoping to fix it eventually.
Video/Shorts Update - Different tool that needs relearning
So the switch over to Linux has also brought a new issue. Devinci Resolve is not really on my Distro and is on an “enterprise-level” one. While there are workarounds, one of the reasons I chose this distro is because of several built in apps. I don’t think I explained it earlier but OBS is one of those built-in apps with several others including Kdenlive, which is a free video editor. I still need to try it but it’s in the cards to work on shorts again.
Conclusion
One of the things that I’ve hold as wisdom from experience is “It is so much easier to destroy, than it is to create.” and that is true even when taking a break. It’ll take time to rebuild and to get the momentum back, but I’m hoping when it does I come back running. Hope you stick around for it too!
